Recipient of the 2014 Theater Masters/Aspen Institute Visionary Playwright Award, nominated for the L. Arnold Weissberger Award and a finalist for the Verity Bargate Award. A contemporary drama set in Ireland with lashings of dark comedy. The Seedbed dramatises how the seed of a single thought passes from a mother to her daughter, privately grows into an obsession in the daughter's mind and is then transferred to her father where it takes on a baroque life of its own in his imagination. As the thought travels from one family member to the next in a dangerous game of psychological whispers, they each go off on their own private psychological bender that ends up having disastrous consequences for everyone in the family.

Solas Nua
Solas Nua, ‘new light’ in Irish, is the only organization in the United States dedicated exclusively to contemporary Irish arts. Based in Washington, D.C., our mission is to bring the best new Irish artistic talent to American audiences.

We began in 2005 with our smash hit production of Disco Pigs by Enda Walsh. For over a decade we have brought our audiences an exciting mix of modern Irish theatre, music, dance, visual arts, film, and literary events including the annual Capital Irish Film Festival and Irish Book Day.

We enjoy support from an expanding audience, the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, Culture Ireland, the Irish Film Institute, the Irish Film Board, the Embassy of Ireland and the Northern Ireland Bureau.
